Snow menace

Most buildings in Manali do not comply with any type of construction regulations. Hence, during the winters — when it can snow as much as 3 feet over 12 hours – snow from rooftops is dumped straight onto public roads/walkways. This makes it difficult to clear the snow once the skies clear and the snow solidifies.

  • This is a dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation, particularly if a tourist/local resident slips and falls on such snow-covered paths/roads.
  • However, there exists no regulation to prevent dumping of snow from rooftops onto roads. Nobody is held accountable for this public offence.
